Mahsa (Jina) Amini was a 22-year-old from Saqez, Iran. On September 13, 2022 she was taken into custody in Tehran, by Iran's "morality police," also known as Gasht-e-Ershad. After spending an hour in a "re-education" center, she was rushed to the hospital where she died three days later on September 16, 2022. Eye-witnesses have confirmed that while in the center, Mahsa was severely beaten, causing trauma to her body, which eventually led to her death.
